Writing prompts

Recently I have found it easier to write a post based on a day hence Valentine’s Day, National pi day, April fools day.

I dislike conventional wisdom so fight against it tooth and nail as we say in English. When I discover that the majority of the time it’s actually right and it makes things a lot easier to follow the crowd; I feel very dumb. I don’t like being a hypocrite and it feels dishonest to make these 180 degree turns which become necessary.

So it’s the battle of understanding that is constantly going on in my head between what I perceive on a topic currently and what is the “received wisdom”. Popular culture is forever changing what is right and wrong so it’s so confusing for me to tap into this. I can’t cope with the see saw of public opinion. So I never really fit in despite wanting to and it can be quite demoralising.

Writing is quite helpful to get the multitude of thoughts whirling round my head out into some sort of order. It then has a chance of coalescing into some sort of form.

Sometimes my thoughts are more ordered but right now they are in a bit of a tangle that is proving difficult to unknot.

I dislike change but that is inevitable so it takes a lot out of me to prepare for planned and unplanned upheavals.

I’m sorry this is such a disjointed post but my mind is rather cloudy right now like the weather is outside right now.

Do you ever feel lost in this way and if so, how do you deal with it?

Best wishes

Angela

  2. I can write in Greek just not very well. I write my posts to my parents hence the rather dictatorial attitude towards grammar, spelling, pronunciation and precise use of language. I’m certainly not able to achieve that standard in Greek.

    1. Yes, I had read in your blog that you are English. Actually, I was asking ILONAPULIANAUSKAITE about her nationality. I ask because I lived in Poland in the past, and I’m wondering if I’m guessing correctly about her name because it looks Lithuanian. I have an American friend who is married to a Latvian so she might be Latvia. Of course, all of this is assuming that she is using her real name. By the way, I love Eastern Europe. In fact, I love all of Europe. I have lived there and have traveled extensively throughout the continent. America seems very primitive in comparison.

      1. Sorry I hardly get comments on this blog so it’s a little weird responding on it.

  3. There is almost never any real wisdom in what is called “conventional wisdom.”
